PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE RICE KRISPIE BARS

RECIPES THAT WILL MAKE YOU GLAD THAT YOU HAVE A STOVE TO COOK ON AND PANS TO COOK WITH.

Actually, these don't require any cooking which is an added bonus unless you consider melting stuff in the microwave cooking. The truth is, I always liked Rice Krispie treats, but I truly believed there was something missing from them and when I discovered this recipe I knew what it was--peanut butter and chocolate! Finally you can have Rice Krispie bars that taste like Reese's Peanut Butter candy only better because they're crunchy. You can make these in less than 5 minutes and they are good enough to serve to your fussiest eater. These sell well at bake sales because everyone likes Rice Krispie treats and these are much better than the originals. Here is how you make them:

1/4 C. butter (1/2 stick)
1/3 C. peanut butter
6 C. miniature marshmallows
8 C. Rice Krispie cereal

1, Microwave butter and peanut butter for 45 seconds.

2. Add marshmallows and toss to coat. Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.

3. Add cereal and mix well.

4. Press firmly into a greased 9" X 13" pan. (I used a 12" x 12" pan. It works just as well.) Refrigerate until they are set up firmly. Otherwise it will be too hard to spread the chocolate smoothly on the top.

5 chocolate flavored candy coating.Melt 4 squares lf chocolate Almond Bark chocoalte flavored candy coatiing. Spread on the top evenly.

This is the almond bark getting ready to be melted. Because I used a more wider but more shallow pan, I melted all of the Almond Bark. Refrigerate again to get the chocolate to set up. Then you can cut into squares and they will keep just fine in an airtight container without being refrigerated. They will be a hit with everyone, young and old alike although the 'oldsters' might not want to admit how much they like them. One recipe makes about 16-24 squares depending on what size you make them. Enjoy!
