STICKY BUNS FOR EVERYONE

RECIPES FOR DAYS WHEN YOU COME HOME EXHAUSTED AND DON’T WANT TO COOK ANYTHING THAT’S TOO HARD, TOO COMPLICATED OR TOO TIME-CONSUMING.

I know these rolls look like they will be complicated and tine-consuming but they're really not. All they take is a little planning ahead and you can have them on the table in what seems like no time. Everyone loves Sticky Buns and everyone will love you for making Sticky Buns. I used to think they were so much harder to make than regular cinnamon rolls that I never even tried them, which was a mistake because once I did i realized they were really much easier because once they're out of the oven and finished baking, they're done! No mixing up frosting, no waiting for the rolls to cool and then frosting them as you would cinnamon rolls. And when they're hot out of the oven, they are pure heaven. With these you make the topping while you're making the rolls and it bakes right at the same time with the rolls. This recipe only makes eight, but when it comes to Sticky Buns, eight is enough! (Hey, that sounds like a great name for a television sit-com!) First, you start with some dough. That always sounds like too much work, but really it's not. All you need to do is this:
Into a good-size bowl put:
1 1/2 C. warm water
1 T. yeast
1/4 C. sugar
Sprinkle the yeast on top of the water and sugar and wait until it starts bubbling.
Then add:
1/4 C. melted butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
4 C. flour, a little at a time
Keep stirring until it is all mixed in together. Then knead the dough until it is smooth and rubbery, about 15 minutes. Put it in another bowl that has been greased with a little butter or sprayed with Pam. Cover and let it raise about an hour or until it doubles in size. There, you're ready to start making Sticky Buns.

On the stove in a small pan melt together:
1 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. butter
1/4 C. Karo syrup
Heat until boiling and the butter and sugar have melted. Remove immediately from the heat.
To this add:
1/2 C. chopped pecans

Spread the top of the dough with melted butter and sprinkle on about 1/3 C. of sugar mixed with 3 T. cinnamon. Roll up the dough and cut into 8 pieces.

Place the rolled up pieces onto the sugar mixture in the baking dish. Cover, put in a warm place and allow to rise another hour.

When the rolls have raised, bake them in a 350 degree oven about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Immediately flip the pan over and remove the rolls from the baking dish. Separate the rolls and serve individually. Serves 8 or less, depending on how many rolls each person wants. Caution: They ARE sticky. Serve with wet towels. Enjoy!
